Painting of the Week – In the Meadow
Restful Compositions
Congratulations to the NDSU Bison on their 9th National Championship! As usual, the Bison Fans took over Frisco, Texas with their support. We enjoyed watching the game with friends and Paul asked them to keep an eye out for our nephew, Erik Diederich, among the fans. Our friends began teasing us by playing a game which might be called “There’s Erik”. If I was in the kitchen or Paul was playing cards, they would holler together “There’s Erik” and we’d rush to see him, but we never did. The laughter grew every time. The Bison Team and coaches I hope are getting a much deserved rest after their big win.
This painting has a Static Composition, which is created by arranging the main subject side by side ether horizontally or vertically, and is very restful to the eye. For a balanced whole you repeat the objects or shapes. For interest you vary, overlap and/or separate the sizes and spaces between the related shapes. This compositional style is ideal for a room in which you would like people to relax. “In the Meadow” is part of a collectors personal collection and not available for purchase.
See my paintings in person at the Underbrush Gallery in Fargo, ND and The Capital Gallery in Bismarck, ND and of course you can view them online at EllenJeanDiederich.com. Please feel free to email me with any questions!
Sincerely,
