Sfumato
You might know how much I enjoy painting a cityscape. Right now, I am working on a large painting of Fargo. This acrylic painting, At La Plaza, is of downtown Palm Springs, California. It is quite different there as the boulevards are lined with giant palm trees. It was fun to paint the terracotta roofs and people shopping in the city.
I was going for a very white painting here but got upset with the blandness of my palette. Using the technique called Sfumato, I rubbed color into my painting. Then I had to sharpen it up.
