Golf Strokes – Painting of the Week
Changing Colors for Creativity
Looking at this painting with the people practicing in their jackets makes me think…how nice that really is. Right now, it’s too hot here in California for golf. Golf Strokes features the driving range at the Mission Hills Gary Player Course. I worked hard to paint in that red building. Then when I played at that course last, I discovered it was actually a house with Red Bougainvillea wrapped all around it.
The red building could have been any color. Think of it as an example of a way artists can modify a subject in their painting. You can make it bigger, smaller, or move it around, or leave it out. Often a beginner’s goal in painting is to make things look real or exactly like a photo. Changing the color of a subject is a simple and fun way to start working your creativity.
Sincerely,
