Painting of the Week

Painting of the Week – Rourke Art Museum

Light and Shadow

Light and Shadow

Have you ever seen something beautiful, came back to photograph it, and it was not the same? As the earth turns, the angle of the sun changes on its subjects. This painting of the Rourke Art Museum in Moorhead, Minnesota was commissioned for a dear friend and collector as it was her granddaughter’s wedding venue. Formally a US Post Office, the front of the building faces straight north, so it is almost always in the shade. In order to get some interesting shadows, I got there at 6:30 in the morning to get the sunlight from the east. Light and shadow add so much to any subject.

Notification of a date change for our exhibit at the Rourke previously advertised!
