Choose a Specific Goal for a Painting Session
Inspired by the Sunflowers blooming on the way to the lake, this painting began as a landscape demo with the focus on the fields. Then I planned my “Building your Center of Interest” workshop and realized the painting needed one. Attacking that problem made it a total mess, and I put it away. Amazingly, adding a violet glaze to the piece as a warm up exercise turned it around. The flower petals at the top melded with the sun. Feel free to make an appointment to see Sunrise in person.
It is Earth Day and the sun will rise despite the gloomy weather on its way which can provide another great weekend for painting. Notice the horizon in this painting. Despite my problems, focus and a good attitude helped me enlarge the purple tree line and play with the flower edges that interrupted it.
It was fun to see people checking in to watch my new videos last weekend which are still on sale. Please sign up for my Beginning Watercolor (in person) Workshop with a friend/child and gain a painting buddy. With the in person class, you get the video too.
