Painting of the Week

Painting of the Week – Stopping By

Connecting Values

Connecting Values

It is so much fun when a friend stops by. If you’re not ready, you become ready. Your biggest cue may be hearing a car door shut and some bubbling voices. Hopefully you look good, your house isn’t a big mess and you’re not fighting to meet a deadline.

Stopping By uses the white to bounce between subjects and connects the car to the house. White is the lightest value (the lightness or darkness of a color) Black is darkest, and the violets, oranges and greens are mostly medium in value. Notice how the value groups connect to each other creating interesting shapes.

Sincerely,

Square Foot Show

Stopping By and Mid Summer Trees are available at the Square Foot Show at Bismarck Art Galleries Association.  There are probably over 100 paintings that are available. Much to my chagrin and your benefit, all of these original paintings sell for only $150.00 each. Don’t be late for the opening, August 3 from 5:00-7:00, in order to get the best selection. It is a great place to start your art collection. If you are in Bismarck, be sure to stop by The Capital Gallery for the Girl on Fire exhibit where I have a nice selection of originals included.
