Add a Beautiful Sunset
I remember riding behind these horses with friends. That day, the Arizona desert was a very dull brown, but I had my camera with me and was looking for subject matter. Wishing for more color, I realized it could be in the sky. That was fun! Please stop and see Heading Home in person at the Red River Watercolor Society’s 30th Annual National Juried Watermedia Exhibition now at West Acres Mall in Fargo now until June 30th along with many wonderful watercolors.
My value sketch showing the lightness or darkness of the colors displayed the figures and horses as a powerful dark shape in the foreground against the light. Popping in the distant rider against the white linear shape near the horizon made the painting. The dark colors are harmonious both by the colors side by side and their similar value.
Sincerely,
