Funny Shapes & Symmetry
If you got the giggles looking at this photograph, you are not alone. I dreamt about these beautiful untrimmed palm trees in Palm Springs and went back the next day to photograph them. The shadows were not the same and everything was different. Instead of admiring them, their monstrous shapes spooked me. What do you think the third palm tree is saying?
Artists curate shapes. Many times shapes line up together creating something unintended and off message. This is important. The proportions and symmetry of the Palms gave them a goofy figurative look. Perhaps overlapping something or changing the direction of the light would eliminate the issue. When this happen, not if this happens, decide what is best before proceeding.
