Creating a Festive Atmosphere
Many of us have missed popular outdoor events due to Covid19. Outside is safer. This weekend I will be in Detroit Lakes at the Street Faire at the Lakes near the Beer Garden. It’s going to be beautiful weather. This scene is from Catalina Island, California, you can tell by the golf carts. They don’t let cars drive around on the streets and it’s like a continuous street fair. This weekend Detroit Lakes, MN is where to be.
There is nothing more festive, in my eyes, than eating an ice cream cone. What seem to work in this painting are the clusters of people. Most people bring someone with them to an art fair and that gives it more reality. You have a few couples, two brunettes and the three girls with the ice cream. Some are just walking and having fun with their friends, others are looking at things. The light bouncing off the tent and the street brightens the feel.
