Painting of the Week

Painting of the Week – Pelican Sunset

Coloring the Whites

Coloring the Whites

This week, I am having my first streamed online class. It feels right to share “Pelican Sunset” as we’re learning how to create volume on white shapes yesterday. This painting revels in coloring the whites to enhance the value contrast. Commissioned by a collector, she provided the sunset picture that made a beautiful background for the Pelicans. Their pointed beaks perfectly define who was in charge of the conversation. No need to say more.

If you didn’t catch my post last week with the article Southwest Art published online about my work, here it is. The writer, Norman Kolpas, was very knowledgeable about watercolor and it was a fun interview:

We’re having success with our first online Beginning Watercolor Workshop that is going until Friday. You can still sign up for the edited online version and practice along with the group to your hearts content. Just go to EVENTS and see what is available now. I hope to add an online watercolor class for kids- a possible fun activity for you to paint a long with a child in August.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,
