Painting of the Week – Mountains at Dusk (in progress)
Importance
I have fallen in love with the mountain ranges around Coachella Valley, California. Almost any time of day you can turn and see a distant mountain, its’ dramatic blue shapes are much lighter midday.
See the way the mountain dominates the space in this painting showing its importance. It just kept getting bigger. The recent rains have hidden parts of the mountain tops with their clouds. The Date Palms are very dark and intricate but the contrast between the sky island mountain is greater. I can’t wait for you to see the finished piece!
Sincerely,
