Cattle Curiosity – Painting of the Week
A Great Subject for a Static Composition
Do you ever walk up to a fence line where cows are grazing? They are often incredibly curious and may walk right up to the fence to you possibly hoping you might have some treats or would hand over some of that green grass on the other side of the fence. Cattle Curiosity or not, they seemed to thoroughly enjoy getting their photo taken! Of course, I told them they were going to be in a painting.
This painting has a static composition. The horizontal arrangement of cows is restful, and the variation and slight ups and down give it painting a subtle rhythm just by varying their placement. Whether the alignment shifts slightly vertically or horizontally, it captures a sense of peace. The background supports the main subjects with its own gentle, related rhythm.
