Changing your Viewpoint
This piece is part of several efforts I made to create a certain painting. This part fascinated me as well as reminds me that I don’t need to put everything in a picture. I also want to invite you to The 29th Annual National Red River Watercolor Society Juried Exhibition at the Plains Art Museum this year June 16th-August 20th. There you will see a large variety of watermedia paintings including work from many famous painters.
Hold the Reins is cropped from a larger piece – cropping refers to cutting out parts of a painting to make it better. Generally, I place pieces of white foam core and move them around to see what works best. Like editing your writing, most the time, less is more. It also can be a great way to change your viewpoint.
Sincerely,
