Sparkling light
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! It is a great time to get ready for summer and remember our veterans. Getting my flowers in the ground, getting back to the lake and driving by bright green trees and grass on the way does a lot for the soul. In “Waiting for a Crew”, this couple is patiently sitting in the pontoon while everyone grabs their towels, lifesaving devices, beverages, Hors D’ouevres, make that diaper change, and put on sunscreen so they can all head out to the lake. Soon they will be cruising around. It’s time for the first boat ride.
In this painting, the light on the house, boat and water sparkles. I believe it is the balance of the colors. Notice the painting is predominantly cool colors – blues, violets and greens) broken by a few small brushstrokes of orange paint (the complement to blue). This is an acrylic painting and when I press my brush swiftly against the canvas that also adds many subtle sparkles.
Sincerely,
