Painting of the Week – Shoreline Fireworks

Cool Tints

Cool Tints

For some reason, Shoreline Fireworks reminds me of early dusk on the Fourth of July when bottle rockets are being shot off, however, these boats are sized for the ocean versus the lake. On the edge of the piece, there was a single bright warm gold blob of paint that brought the whole piece alive, so I moved it to a better location on the painting. It seemed to enhance the motion of the boats in the water.

These pastel colors are those that always make me appreciate Acrylic paint. You tint a color by adding white to it and these tints display the beautiful quality of opaque paint. I also like the powerful dry-brush work (the pebbled strokes of paint) that Acrylic readily achieves.

Happy New Year to All!
