Painting of the Week – Island Park Gazebo

Uniting Unrelated Brushwork with Color

Uniting Unrelated Brushwork with Color

A local collector commissioned this painting of Island Park across the street from her Condo. She had a great view of the Gazebo and said how much this painting meant to her because of her many memories there. How nice it must be to live near a park and watch the festivities.

This painting felt like I was writing a story because of the calligraphic brushstrokes. Shapes are varied having either curvilinear or geometric shapes. Notice in the connections between the gazebo and the trees, how the related color connects these unrelated shapes. The whites in the Gazebo also flow into the background.

It was fun to see so many dear friends and collectors  attune  Fargo Street Fair. It was also very pleasant weather. Please mark your calendar for the Detroit Lakes Art Faire August 13-14th Friday 10:00 to 7:00 & Saturday 10:00 to 5:00 on Washington Avenue. I will soon be sending more details about that.

Sincerely,
