Painting of the Week – Safe Haven
Stamping
These beautiful swans chose a small pond along County Road 20, near Pelican Lake, to raise their family. Apparently they create huge nests too, but I didn’t see one. Here they were in a “Safe Haven” with their cignets swimming close by. One of the parents looked exhausted and kept stretching out their neck and resting it on their body. This was from the first time I saw the cignets with them.
Two stamps were designed and cut out of Speedball-Cut-Easy-Blocks with a Speedball linoleum cutter. The water and the fog in the background were created using multiple transparent layers of acrylic. I pressed painted stamps into the canvas hiding some of the marks with additional brush strokes.
Sincerely,
