Happy Holiday Shopping!
I hope you enjoyed your share of pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy on Thanksgiving! We enjoyed the holiday with our daughter Monica in California and missed Brittany and Chelsea who went north to Banff.
This farm was just north of Hawley, MN. I don’t know how many times I looked for a pumpkin patch that had orange pumpkins and green leaves, but I found one that day. It is a short moment in time when the leaves are just starting to wilt. We always had trouble growing pumpkins on our farm no matter how early we planted them. It seemed like they were just starting to get big and the frost would hit. There must be some type of trick these farmers know. They are also fun to paint.
When painting pumpkins, I always think about their spherical shape. Overlapping and separating the pumpkins and weaving them between the leaves works. Varying the colors of orange and accenting them with complementary blue bedazzles them. I complicated this painting by adding all of the trees and the barn etc. but it gave them atmosphere. Tougher than I thought, it does have a welcoming feeling.
