New Project – Painting of the Week

Moving Color

Moving Color

Spring is that wonderful time of year when we plant beauty to grow up all around us. A perennial added to a vegetable garden might save you a little planting time every year if you have the space to brighten it up. Have fun planting your pots right now! I’m thinking of everything I have to do and have 10 paintings in the works just don’t need to be rushed. “New Project” is an oldy-but goody to share. I always used a garden fork like this to sift the soil, until I poked though the waterlines at my house a couple of times.

This piece is very impressionistic and fresh. When you paint something like a garden fork, it could be a long dividing shape. By letting the light hit it and changing the color, your eye is invited to move down the shape and explore it.  The greens in this painting are also an excellent example of changing a color in the light.

Sincerely,
