Do you want your watercolors to sparkle, have strength and beauty, and have fun while doing so? Please join Ellen Jean Diederich in her workshop Building Transparent Layers in Watercolor.  Ellen has 37 years of professional painting and teaching experience and wants to share her joy of working with this spectacular medium.  In this workshop you will build up and create beautiful transparent washes and bring out the beauty of watercolor.   Then you will work to bring focus to your subject and composition with connecting and contrasting values. Students who have painted at least one watercolor to advanced painters are eligible for this class.

Syllabus
Tuesday: Practice using the paint and layering a subject. The layers help you create depth in your subject. Learn about timing for success, choosing and connecting the background to your subject.

Wednesday:  Warm & cool Dominance.  Create a plaid using the same colors and making it warm and cool. See how the colors layer. Work on a color sketch for your painting.

Thursday/Friday: Design and work step by step through a painting.

Dear Students,

When you sign up will email you a supply list and more details.  I will have the  supplies you need available for purchase at the workshop at discounted prices. To register by mail: email  [email protected] to hold your place in class with a $75.00 deposit.

You will watch demonstrations, practice techniques, make shapes, and create your own painting. Paint from the photographs provided, and/or bring your own. A welcome letter will be sent to you two weeks prior with more details.  Ellen can help you with supplies, just ask.I look forward to working with you! This is a new location. You can bring your own lunch or there are several restaurants within walking distance, including the deli at Cashwise. Feel free to email me with any questions you have.

Response to COVID-19 Pandemic:

My number one priority is the safety of the staff and all workshop attendees. Due to our current situation we will be following the CDCs recommended guidelines and implementing a plan to keep everyone safe and healthy. To ensure enjoyable and successful workshop I have created a list of procedures all workshop participants are required to follow.

All workshop attendees must:

• Wear a mask at all times during the workshop.
• Maintain social distancing at 6 feet apart.
• Wash hands regularly, after eating, or touching your face.

• A maximum of 8 attendees are being allowed to participate.
• If you’re feeling ill you are not to attend the workshop.
• Refunds are available for anyone unable to attend due to illness.
• To reserve your spot in the work shop put $75 down.
