Ze Animal House – A Tri-College Manifestation Giclée Reproduction by Ellen Jean Diederich

This painting features the Rourke Art Museum in Moorhead, MN; a hub of culture in the Fargo, Moorhead area.

In Fargo- Moorhead the three colleges offer together Tri-College courses. Minnesota State University Moorhead, my Alma-mater hosts the Dragons, Concordia College students are Cobbers, and NDSU is the home for the National Champion Football Team.

The museum stands at the heart of the Tri-College area, positioned between the Concordia Cobbers to the South, the MSUM Dragons to the East, and the NDSU Bison to the West. Inspired by a mix of Picasso’s Guernica, the classic film Animal House, and Bill Murray’s famous “mass hysteria” line from Ghostbusters, Ellen transformed the museum’s windows into a lively sanctuary where “dogs and cats” (and dragons and bison) live together. This piece captures the spirited, competitive, yet unified nature of our local college town.
