I never thought I would paint loons, but the more I learned about them at the lake the more interested I became. I never knew they gave their babies rides on their back and hope I have the opportunity to see that some day.
In “The Rustling Reeds” the loons are painted very simply. I learned so much about landscape when painting this piece when I fell in love with the upper left corner of the painting, and the orangey reeds. Playing consciously with the patterns of dark and light in the reeds and the edges changed everything. You need to see this original painting in person.
This Giclée has a torn edge – I recommend floating this piece to show off the quality of the printing.
