Scenic Descent is an original gouache painting on rag paper by Ellen Jean Diederich featuring a street in San Francisco, CA.
The Backstory: San Francisco is the polar opposite of Fargo, North Dakota. Their very steep streets would be impossible if they had ice and snow. This Scenic Descent leads you down to the San Francisco Bay, where seafood restaurants, clam chowder, and sourdough bread flavor the city. The “ding-ding” of those iconic streetcars can still be heard today as they save the public countless steps. Displaying the bay in the distance adds a fun design feature, as the horizon line is always at the viewer’s eye level. This painting looks towards the Trans America Tower towards the Bay.
