Handmade

These colorful baskets were made in Jordan. I snuck a display picture when no one was looking.  It was exciting to loosely paint the basket’s Handmade details.

To exaggerate the palette in these baskets I used a grid underpainting and Gouache to pull some of the light colors out. Preferring to have fun while painting I never paint anything perfect. The imperfections are consistent and tie the work together.  It was also interesting to smear some of the gouache and later paint on top of it.  The value contrast and the drama of the warms and cools really made this piece.

Handmade is painted on 300lb watercolor paper and is in the process of being framed – floated in an 8ply off-white mat with a simple, squared, dark brown 1 1/4″ wood frame.
