Grand Entrance is a Giclée Reproduction by Ellen Jean Diederich featuring an orange Georgetown Manor with beautiful architecture.
Behind the artwork: On a tour of Georgetown, I took many photos of beautiful architecture. I was inspired to paint this piece when I saw how the bricks turned from yellow orange in the sunlight to red orange in the shadows on the building. The white phlox flowers gracefully overlap the beautiful white woodwork and connect the foreground and middle ground. he complimentary colors orange and blue were chosen for this painting. Masking tape was used to paint the black shutters first, giving them a dominant blue cast. Then the reflected light and shadows were painted on the white shapes. The light medium value of the brick walls was painted first and when dry, shadows were added. The painting was set aside for several days to decide what to leave alone. Finally, I painted in the descriptive elements in the flowers and woodwork
This piece is perfect for any space or collecting!
