Breeze Over the Fairway

A  olfer knows that the direction of the wind affects the direction of their stroke.  Here at Poppie’s Pond, named after a Mission Hills former Tournament Director, Terry Wilcox “nicknamed Poppie”, the 18th hole becomes a very tight target to land on. A breeze could easily affect their success. Woman Golfer, Amy Alcott to the first winning leap into Poppie’s Pond after her victory in 1988 and a tradition was born.

I was inspired to paint the famous pond when I was looking out at the great expanse of blue mountains, leaving the club house.

This elegantly textured original has a shiny varnish that really brings out the color and a narrow black frame.
