Acrylic Landscape Painting

A four -day workshop, held June 9-12, 2020 9:00 am -3:30 PM at J’s Catering.

(NOTE: Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, classes may change. An online format will be used in the event a class gets cancelled and your $75 deposit will be used to pay for the entire online class.) 

Syllabus
Days 1 & 2: The Source of Light and how to portray volume and perspective.

 We will practice blending colors and adjusting values with acrylic paint.  This will be done on basic elements of a landscape, such as trees, bushes, rocks, water, hills and mountains etc.  Aerial perspective and linear perspective and integrating a light source will help you bring life to your landscape.  Together we will each  create a small  landscape painting. Photos will be provided to practice from.

Days 3 & 4 – Create your own Landscape.
We will compose and paint a landscape with some architecture on a larger canvas or watercolor paper.

Design and build a depth of field for your painting, from your photographs. You will learn how to select a color scheme to pull your painting together in a unique way.  I will bring photocopies of the same subject matter I’m working on if you want to paint the same subject. This can be done on a larger canvas…at least 16” x 20” or larger.

When you sign up will email you a supply list and more details.  I will have the  supplies you need available for purchase at the workshop at discounted prices. To register by mail: email  [email protected] to hold your place in class with a $75.00 deposit.

You will watch demonstrations, practice techniques, make shapes, and create your own painting. Paint from the photographs provided, and/or bring your own. A welcome letter will be sent to you two weeks prior with more details.  Ellen can help you with supplies, just ask.I look forward to working with you! This workshop is at J’s Catoring. Response to COVID-19 Pandemic:

My number one priority is the safety of the staff and all workshop attendees. Due to our current situation we will be following the CDCs recommended guidelines and implementing a plan to keep everyone safe and healthy. To ensure enjoyable and successful workshop I have created a list of procedures all workshop participants are required to follow.

All workshop attendees must:

• Wear a mask at all times during the workshop.
• Maintain social distancing at 6 feet apart.
• Wash hands regularly, after eating, or touching your face.

• A maximum of 8 attendees are being allowed to participate.
• If you’re feeling ill you are not to attend the workshop.
• Refunds are available for anyone unable to attend due to illness.
• To reserve your spot in the work shop put $75 down.
