Junction Point – Original Acrylic Painting

Junction Point is an original acrylic painting by Ellen Jean Diederich.

Behind the piece: It was fun to design and paint Junction Point. This birds-eye view of the land was from Texas, and the horses and riders were seen on some California hikes. The lighting from my landscape photo was beautiful and it worked to contrast the streaks of light with the dark horses. During the painting process, the big surprise was how the shadows in the sand from the front horses made them look like they just crossed a stream.

This artwork features layers of Grey Greens, bright Greens, warm Greens, cool Greens, pale Greens and dark Greens used to create the trees and background.
