Lakeside View – Original Watercolor Painting

Lakeside View is an original watercolor painting by Ellen Jean Diederich.

Behind the piece: When I was 9, my sister Darin helped improve my coloring. She showed me if I moved the crayon in a circular motion, it would look like fur and that I could use my fingernail as a bumper to keep my crayon in between the lines. Today, even though I carefully draw out my subject, I always use my photograph as the dominant view and make additional corrections while painting. Apparently, this happens so consistently, painting out of the lines has become part of my style and seems to work. This beautifully framed 8 x 10 watercolor of a Lake Sally is an unconscious little lovable gem.
