Near Watford City, North Dakota, this Autumn Invitation was too beautiful not to stop for. The mist greyed these golden colors of fall in a beautiful way. It is indeed a landscape worth painting. The powerful effect painting the grasses made in perspective impressed me.

Mist creates mystery making you want to know more. Our imagination fills in the rest.  What is beyond that central rock formation? There are very slight angles in the shapes. Somehow despite the primarily horizontal band of foreground trees, you know you could go through them and hike to the hills. Their introduction truly made this piece work.
