The Fence Line – Original Acrylic Painting

The Fence Line is an original acrylic painting by Ellen Jean Diederich featuring cattle in a rural landscape.

Behind the piece: On country road 20, headed back to Fargo, I spotted these Angus cattle. This fence does a great job keeping the cows out of the corn. Mowed along both sides, the cattle wouldn’t even be tempted to reach their head over it for a snack. The Fence Line provided an interesting perspective up the hill to the distant trees. I love the impressionistic loose brushwork used to create the textures seen in this picture.

“The Fence Line” also won Best of Show at the 2025 Rural Art Show.
