The scene is from Rollag, MN near the Steam Thresher‘s Reunion where they presented wondrous antiques s of early threshing machines that still run. You get an idea of how much work it was for a farmer to harvest grain and why these machines were created. Here is a more modern version of threshing machines now called a Combine.
The fields of wheat make up biggest proportion of space in this painting suggesting abundance. Rows of wheat have turned gold – ready for harvest. Notice the changes of direction and color of the fields throughout this piece. Some changes are subtle and others are dramatic.
