Harbor Patrol – Original Acrylic Painting

Harbor Patrol is an Original Acrylic Painting on Canvas by Ellen Jean Diederich. 

Behind the piece: From a trip to Catalina Island the harbor sparkled with boats against the dark blue water.  This harbor is a parking lot for boats and apparently the most expensive parking I have ever heard of.  People were certainly going all over and partying in their boats to make the most of it.  You can take a ferry across the bay and they offer you a free drink on your birthday. Harbor Patrol reminds me of the sounds of chugging boats, waves, water splashing and activity that is musical to me. The overlapping shapes and proportions, repeat and unite both contrasting and related colors. The rhythm of music can be transferred and is so helpful to the visual arts!
