Nelson’s Market is a popular farmers market in the lake country that is fun to shop at and paint. You can see the gardens full of vegetables and flowers right down the hill. With their pick up partially loaded with corn they drove up to gather more fresh flowers to sell.

Here is what the judge said:
This is the image I kept coming back to for a lot of reasons. First off, it tells a great story. Many stories. Everyone that looks at it will relate to it through their own experiences. For me it’s the activities of the farm I grew up on. Maybe they’re moving the newly acquired plants for the 6th time so the fuel barrels can be filled. The colors are vibrant due to the use of red and green complementary colors ( a tricky combination to get right). The brush strokes create movement and excitement. The simple act of opening the door on the pickup keeps the viewer in the composition. The cooler colors of the trees recede and frame the buildings and activities of the warmer subjects that are pushed forward. Tom Marple, Jurist.
