House Hunting – Mixed Media painting
I found this pink house off the coast of California on Catalina Island. With it’s collection of bird houses, bougainvillea, and brilliant pink shadows it hadt o be painted. It was a rambler, but to make me happy,I flipped the building into a vertical adding an unrealistic story & a half. Then there was a chicken…. It simply didn’t belong with the canaries, but it was so funny to me. An accidental yellow canary appeared flying through the trees. kicked everything into high gear.
This painting utilizes watercolor, watercolor pencil, and gouache is painted on 300 lb. rag watercolor paper. A grid is drawn in changing colors. The painting is in a simple off white mat with a silver wood moulding.
