Creating Dimension in the Prairie.

Behind the piece: Amongst the hills of Medora are large areas of brushland. Medora Awakes is an original acrylic painting on canvas that features a late summer season where the cool morning light just catches the top edges of the bluffs. This piece gets its glow from the dominance of cool colors with touches of the contrasting warm colors and light aqua colored shrubbery.  I love the feeling of wide-open space. If you were there you could watch the wildlife.

The light makes this scene even more beautiful as the distant hills fade into violets. This piece gets its glow from the dominance of cool colors with the contrasting slivers of warm colors and light aqua colored shrubbery.  When painting the lower valley, I rounded the shapes into varied sizes.  Look closely and you will see that most of the brush strokes have slight out-curve to them versus flat Line. Where the ground is flatter, the strokes are flatter, but they mostly have a curve too them to create volume.
